    Atatürk Arboretum

The Atatürk Arboretum, with its tranquil lakes and nearly 2,000 different species of trees and plants from around the world, this 730-hectare green oasis in the city's north is a welcome change from the crowded streets and concrete jungle of İstanbul. Walk among oaks, firs, maples, redwoods, and eucalyptus trees on several kilometres of stone and dirt paths. You can easily spend a few hours here breathing in the fresh air.

The very first swan nursery was established here in 1916 during the time of the Ottoman Empire, and today swans and turtles live in the many ponds on the grounds.

A walk through this peaceful and pleasant environment gives you a feeling of tranquillity and allows you to switch off from the hectic and stressful everyday life in İstanbul. The Atatürk Arboretum is a hidden gem in İstanbul where you can enjoy nature while being only 5 kilometres away from the city.

From Bahçeköy, several well-marked footpaths are leading into the Belgrade Forest for those interested in more rugged hiking.
