Galataport
On The Waterfront
The Galataport Quarter in Karaköy has emerged as one of the city’s best new culinary and cultural hubs. Where the Bosphorus, the Golden Horn, and the Sea of Marmara meet, the long-awaited Galataport, a complex of museums, shops, restaurants, and breweries on the picturesque banks of the funky Karaköy district, has finally opened its first phase.
It opened a sprawling and pristine waterfront overlooking arguably the best new vantage point to view the Bosphorus and the minaret-pierced and magnificent domed eminence of the Sultanahmet skyline.
The redevelopment has brought to life an area previously closed to visitors for almost 200 years and welcomes visitors on cruise ships with open arms, with the world’s first underground cruise terminal, Galataport is one of the most important cruise destinations in the Mediterranean.
With its nearly one-mile-long promenade of blushing sandstone, lined with pink and hazel mid-century buildings accented with overflowing planters and benches, it is a grand sight.
Visitors can enjoy a breath-taking, healthy, and safe cultural, art, shopping, and fine dining experience. Great attention has been paid to the heritage here, the architecture has been designed according to a neighbourhood concept that harmonises with the historical fabric of the area, and alternative transport options.
Visitors will soon be able to relax in sheer luxury with the opening of two hotels that sit in front of the Bosphorus in Galataport. Imagine waking up in the morning with the Bosphorus sunrise breaking through your window. Visitors can also unwind in the enlightening experience of a lavish hammam, or sit poolside overlooking the Topkapı Palace, soon visitors will be left with the temptation to stay longer. Modern luxury to this waterfront marvel will be difficult to leave.
