Kilyos
Kilyos is an exquisite, and picturesque village located a few kilometres outside the city of İstanbul. The village has several historical monuments such as forts that are a must-see for all those who want to explore further than the beaches. With its rich history and beautiful natural surroundings, Kilyos is the perfect weekend getaway from the noise of the city.
A little further afield, there are many wilder bays on the Black Sea, and on the golden beaches around the village of Kilyos, you'll find a number of hip beaches and clubs that are host to lively summer entertainment for everyone and where just about anything goes. While there are also plenty of quieter spots where you can camp and escape the stress and hive of activity.
The deep natural harbour of Uzunya Beach on the Black Sea at the tip of the Bosphorus is the most Instagram-worthy of İstanbul's beaches. With its golden sands and deep blue sea, you'd think you were (almost) in the Turkish Riviera in the south at the height of summer, but the chilling cool of the water is sure to bring you back to recognising this beautiful, secluded alcove. If you are lucky, you can watch dolphins playing in the bay.
The most famous beach club on İstanbul's Black Sea coast is Solar Beach, who hosts live music events every weekend throughout the summer. Fun, music, sun, sand and beach stalls await visitors at Solar Beach.
Swimming is low on the list of attractions here, although the sea is calmer here than at many other places nearby. You can play beach volleyball, basketball or football. Challenge the waves and try your hand at windsurfing or jet skiing as water sports. Or simply enjoy the sun during the day and visit the popular beach clubs at sunrise. Music concerts and other events are also held here. But if you really want to swim, there are also some neighbouring outdoor pools to relax in.
One of the most beautiful and well-maintained beaches in Kilyos, golden sand and the waves of the Black Sea meet at the popular Burç Beach. Lovingly maintained by the Boğazici University Alumni Association it is a popular destination for visitors who are fans of water sports. It is the ideal place for windsurfing and as a place to indulge in the adrenaline-pumping sport of kiteboarding. Burç Beach is also a centre for summer activities that have something for everyone. You can spend your time having a drink at one of the bars on the sand or take part in one of the many fun-filled activities such as volleyball, kite flying, swimming and much more.
