Mosaic Museum of the Grand Palace
An Archaeological Discovery
The Mosaic Museum of the Grand Palace is located in the Arasta Bazaar, as part of the Blue Mosque complex, so there are plenty of things to do in this neighbourhood making it part of a great family day out. The mosaics are incredibly impressive and the size of the collection will surprise you too.
The ancient mosaics cover an area of over 250 square metres, although the remains on display are only a fraction of the original area. The huge works of art, completely covered with intricate mosaic designs, depict scenes such as a hunter and a tiger, a child feeding a donkey, a lion attacking an elephant, and a lizard eating a gryphon, all in an amazing variety of colours.
