This can easily be seen by visiting two musical highlights, the 1970s never ends at Barış Manço Evi, the house turned museum is dedicated to popular musician Barış Manço, a pioneer of psychedelic “Anatolian rock” who later became a popular variety show host. The collection of his extravagant stage costumes needs no translation. 

Meanwhile, the Süreyya Opera House is a building with a strange and interesting history. It was designed and built by Süreyya İlmen Paşa and opened in 1927 as the first musical theatre on the Anatolian side of İstanbul. However, strangely, it was a cinema until 80 years later, before being restored and reopening as intended. The opera house is worth a visit for both architectural and cultural reasons: it has a beautiful Art Deco foyer with Parisian styling, and the interior has a striking classical German influence.
