    The Cosmopolitan Heart of İstanbul 

    In the heart of İstanbul’s cosmopolitan centre, the legendary Taksim Square is the hub of the city’s cultural and communal nuances. The square is one of the city’s most coveted landmarks. At its centre is the striking The Republic Monument, also known as Cumhuriyet Anıtı, in Taksim Square is perhaps the most famous Turkish monument. The monument was erected to commemorate the founding of the Turkish Republic in 1923 and built in the years that followed.  

    The monument, which depicts the founders of the Turkish Republic, consists of two sides, one showing Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and the others facing İstiklal Caddesi. Located in proximity to other landmarks such as the Atatürk Cultural Centre and Taksim Gezi Park. The nostalgic  tram runs through the manicured landscape, while festivals, parades, official ceremonies, and guided city tours full of curious tourists continue to enliven the park. Thanks to the numerous restaurants, bars, arts & crafts shops, and luxury hotels dotted around the square, it is a popular destination for tourists and a popular meeting place for locals.
